Dr. Garth Stewart, Ph.D.

Dr. Stewart received a Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Alberta in 1997. Prior to this he completed a M.Ed. in School Psychology from the University of Manitoba and a B.A. in Psychology from Trinity Western College. During his studies Dr. Stewart developed expertise in psychological evaluation and took graduate courses in intellectual, educational, personality and neuropsychological assessment. He also completed coursework in counselling and psychopathology, and studied human neuroanatomy through the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Alberta. He was employed for four years as a school psychologist, and from 1992 to 1993 held the position of Senior Associate Clinician in the Clinical Services Division at the University of Alberta. He entered private practice in 1993 and is currently a Director of Consulting Psychology Associates. Over the past 25 years has limited his professional activities to the areas of psychoeducational and neuropsychological assessment.


Dr. Stewart is an Adjunct Academic Colleague at the University of Alberta where he supervises graduate students in the area of individual psychological assessment. He has also lectured on the topic of individual psychological assessment and previously taught a Ph.D. level course entitled "Applied Neuropsychological Assessment." Through his research and clinical activities he has developed expertise in the assessment and treatment of learning disabilities and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in both children and adults. Dr. Stewart has presented work-shops on the diagnosis and treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and has published articles on this topic and on adolescent anxiety. He currently serves as neuropsychologist on the Prairie Central FASD Network Adult Diagnostic Team.


Dr. Stewart is a registered psychologist in the Province of Alberta and is a Professional Member of National Academy of Neuropsychology. He has been granted ex-pert witness status by the Provincial Court of Alberta in the areas of psychological assessment and neuropsychology. He has also been granted expert witness status by the Alberta Court of Queen’s bench in the area of consulting and clinical psychology. He previously served on the College of Alberta Psychologist’s Practice Advisory Committee for three years, and on the Registration Committee for four years.
